PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a liquid leakage detecting method which can detect a liquid leakage between the internal liquid flow paths of a liquid jet head, and a liquid leakage detection device. SOLUTION: All the nozzle openings are temporarily sealed by attaching an adhesive film 48 to a nozzle forming surface, and an air flow running through a first tube member 42A during reducing the internal pressure of an ink flow path by a suction pump 43 through ink guide-in openings 15 of an odd-number nozzle bank, in the state that the ink guide-in openings 15 corresponding to an even-number nozzle bank, are opened to the atmosphere, is obtained as first flow information by a first flow sensor 44A. Further, the air flow running through a second tube member 42B during reducing the internal pressure of the ink flow path, through the ink guide-in openings of the even-number nozzle bank in the state that the ink guide-in openings corresponding to the odd-number nozzle bank, are opened to the atmosphere, is obtained as second flow information by a second flow sensor 44B. Finally, a liquid leakage in the ink flow path of a recording head is detected by the comparison of the first flow information/the second flow information with a flow threshold value.
