The element (10) can be used at the outside of the building as well as for cladding an inside wall, or a piece of furniture. The rectangular base (1) can be of any suitable size and made of an insulating foam material, reinforced with an insert, if required, or designed as a brick. The front is decorated with any kind of appropriate material (2) glued to the base (1) in order to create the impression of natural stone work or of ceramic tiles. Independent claims are given for the element created by using the method and for the use of the element in particular units.
