PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a color image forming apparatus in which the charging characteristics of a plurality of color toners are made more effectively uniform so that development conditions can be made as identical as possible. SOLUTION: In four color toners 13<SB>BK</SB>, 13<SB>M</SB>, 13<SB>C</SB>, 13<SB>Y</SB>, the amounts of synchronous external additives 15<SB>BK</SB>", 15<SB>M</SB>", 15<SB>C</SB>", 15<SB>Y</SB>" sticking to mutually equal amounts of base particles 14<SB>BK</SB>, 14<SB>M</SB>, 14<SB>C</SB>, 14<SB>Y</SB>are set to the same or much the same. That is, the inclinations of synchronous straight lines (approximate straight lines) obtained by a toner analysis method using a particle analyzer are set to the same with respect to the plurality of color toners. Accordingly, the charging characteristics of the four color toners 13<SB>BK</SB>, 13<SB>M</SB>, 13<SB>C</SB>, 13<SB>Y</SB>become uniform or nearly uniform and development conditions become identical or nearly identical.
