PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a lens with a cap which can be made compact, especially in a radial direction, and a manufacturing method therefor. SOLUTION: The lens with the cap 1 has a cylindrical metallic cap 2 and a lens member 3 held inside the cap 2, and is constituted by sticking the lens member 3 and the cap 2 with an adhesive composed of thermosetting resin. The lens member 3 is constituted of a lens part 31 condensing light and an edge part 32 forming the periphery of the lens part and having a columnar part 32a. The cap 2 has a first level difference part 2a projecting in a center direction on its inner surface, and the first level difference part 2a forms a gap between its upper surface and the edge part 32, then the gap is filled with the adhesive. The cap 2 has a second level difference part 2b, and the level difference part 2b is engaged with the base edge part of the lens member 3, whereby the lens member 3 is supported and regulated in a vertical direction.
