[PROBLEMS] To provide a string having both of a capillary function and a root-proof function whereby a fruit or a crop can be effectively and inexpensively grown in a culture pot and its taste can be improved. [MEANS FOR SOLVING PROBLEMS] A root-proof water-supply string characterized by being a flexible string composed of a capillary material having a capillary function and a root-proof and water-permeable material which has a water-permeability and a root-proof function and covers the entire outer periphery of the capillary material. A method of producing a root-proof water-supply string characterized by comprising winding a root-proof and water-permeable material around a capillary material, polymerizing the ends and then fixing the polymerized parts. A method of locating a root-proof water-supply string in a culture pot characterized by comprising making a hole in the side wall of a culture pot, which is filled with culture soil and has a crop planted therein, at a definite height from the bottom thereof; inserting one end of a string, the other end of which has been dipped in a culture liquid, from the hole; making the string to get at the opposite side being at an extension of the hole; and then pulling the string up to the vicinity of the soil surface along the pot wall.
