Specifically, the ink jet recording medium is a medium for use in ink jet recording and is characterized in that an ink absorptive layer having a single or multilayer structure is provided on one side or both sides of a base material constituting the medium, and the ink absorptive layer contains a silica-calcium carbonate composite pigment comprising silica chemically or physically adsorbed on the surface of calcium carbonate particles, and a blend of alumina hydrate and polyethylene oxide.</p>
