PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an optical connector which is inexpensive and compact in configuration and is excellent in operability and in which an electric connection and an optical connection are performed almost simultaneously so as to surely execute and recognize the connections. SOLUTION: The optical connector is provided with: plugs 100 each of which includes a conductive ferrule 101 having a hole to which an optical fiber 107 taken out of a wiring optical cord 105 is inserted and a conductive part to which a metal wire 108 taken out of the wiring optical cord is connected; and an adapter 200 having a split sleeve 202 formed of an electrically insulating material to accept the conductive ferrules 101, wherein two plugs 100 are inserted facing each other from both sides of the adapter 200 in the split sleeve 202, and the optical connection and the electric connection are performed almost simultaneously at the end of both conductive ferrules 101 on both sides.
