PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method for inferring temperature of a piezoelectric stack to control a fuel injection device substantially independently from temperature. SOLUTION: This method for inferring temperature of a piezoelectric actuator main body 32 attached in an engine housing 28 to control operation of the fuel injection device 24 in which fuel is supplied from a high pressure fuel pump 10 by arranging the piezoelectric actuator main body 32 in a fuel space 34 for receiving fuel from the high pressure fuel pump 10 during use comprises a process for deciding first temperature of fuel on the upstream side of the fuel space 34, a process for deciding temperature of the engine housing 28, and a process for inferring temperature of the piezoelectric actuator main body 32 based on the first temperature and the temperature of the engine housing 28.
