PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an exhaust gas silencer capable of controlling back pressure of exhaust gas while ensuring required noise reduction performance and having general-versatility. SOLUTION: This exhaust gas silencer 1 is provided with a plurality of extended chambers (the first extended chamber 11 and the second extended chamber 13) through which exhaust gas passes and a plurality of communicating pipes (the first communicating pipe 4 and the second communicating pipe 5) for communicating the extended chambers mutually and is attached to an internal combustion engine.
