PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To facilitate oil strainer assembling work, and secure high quality. SOLUTION: The oil strainer 1 comprises a case 2 in which an opening 6 of a case member 3 is closed with a cover member 20, and a filter element 30 disposed in it. In the case member 3, a groove 8 is formed comprising a guide part 9 to guide the filter element 30 into the case member 3 by inserting both side edges of the filter element 30 inward, and a lock part 10 to lock an insertion direction tip edge as it is inserted inward. The groove 8 is formed along the inner circumferential surface of the case member 3 so that the inside of the case member 3 is parted to a dirty side D where an inflow part 15 is disposed, and a clean side C where an outflow part 16 is disposed. On the inner surface of the cover member 20, a retaining part 25 to position and fix the edge of the filter element 30 is formed in such a way that its both ends coincide with ends of the groove 8.
