PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an intake device capable of controlling intake air flows in a wide range by using a butterfly type intake air flow control valve. SOLUTION: The intake device 1A for an internal combustion engine is provided with an intake air flow control valve 10 adjusting intake air flow GS flowing in an intake air passage 3 by pivotally supporting a plate shape valve element 11 at a side center position and rotating the same. The valve element 11 is formed of an elastically deformable member, and provided in such a manner that one end of the valve element 11 can abut on the inner wall 3WA of the intake air passage 3 when one end of the valve element 11 is rotated to a predetermined position of the valve element 11. Consequently, one end of the valve element 11 block one end side of the intake air passage 3, and the valve element 11 deforms in a state that one end side of the intake air passage 3 is blocked to adjust a passage area of the other end side of the intake air passage 3.
