PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a spinning reel for fishing, which has a small reel main body, is free from limitation on designs, has excellent durability, and surely prevents the occurrence of back crushes, when the gears of a spool reciprocating movement unit are engaged. SOLUTION: This spinning reel for fishing, equipped with a spool-reciprocating device for engaging and connecting a spiral shaft 49 having a driven gear 55 engaged with a pinion 29 to a sliding member 53 mounted to the rear end side of the spool shaft 43 to convert the rotation of a handle to the forward and backward movements of the spool shaft 43 is characterized by forming a circular dent in a side portion adjacent to the tooth portion of the opinion 29, mounting an elastic ring 63 in the circular dent, and disposing a frictional rotation portion 65 contacting with the elastic ring 63 in the side portion adjacent to the tooth portion of the driven gear 55.
