[Also in Division H2] The stator of a fan motor is mounted so as to have limited rotational movement and is connected to a shutter which is opened by movement of the stator as a result of torque reaction when the motor is energized. In Fig. 1, the stator 5 is journalled in nylon bushes 8 in a fixed support 6 and has a shaft 10 at one end carrying a lever 11 movable between stops 12 on the support 6. A pin 15 on the lever operates the shutter vanes 14. Fig. 3 shows another embodiment in which rotation of the stator 5 in the support 6 causes a cam 18 to actuate a push-rod and Bowden cable 21 which in turn actuates a second push rod 23 bearing on a surface 13 on one of the shutter vanes 14. An operating lever 17 links the vanes 14 which are biased to the closed position by a spring 25. Other forms of shutter operating linkage are referred to. |
