The mobile machine for attaching vertical wires for supporting hop bines to horizontal guide wires has a mast which carries a wire attachment unit. This is adjusted using a position sensor system which detects the effect of the guide wire on the field from an electrode. An independent claim is included for a method for attaching the wires using the machine.
