1,124,779. Winding coils for stators. INDUSTRA PRODUCTS Inc. 18 Oct., 1966 [19 May, 1966], No. 46619/66. Heading B3A.. An apparatus for winding coils for a stator comprises a winding head 1 with a flyer 51 and a series of stepped formers 9 mounted on rotatable turret 7, the wire being wound into a group of coils on each former, without severing the wire so that the groups and coils are integrally connected. The position of the flyer relative to the former to be wound is adjustable through a lever linkage (63) by a hydraulic cylinder (107), Fig. 9 (not shown). Initially the flyer is arranged in position to wind the first coil Cl of group G1 and the wire emerging through the flexible tube 61 is secured to the first step of the former. The flyer is rotated relative to the former to wind the coil and may be reciprocated longitudinally of the former by hydraulic means. After the required number of turns a stop-pin (P1) is retracted and the lever linkage (63) moved against a second stop-pin (P2) so that the second coil can be wound. After winding the last coil of the group the flyer is stopped and the turret 7 rotated clockwise through 90 degrees and a seoond former wound with coils. The wire between the coils is not severed. This proceedure is repeated for each former, the wound coils.being removed at D and placed on pins 13 for insertion into a stator core. The formers 9 are collapsible to facilitate removal. When all the coils are positioned correctly on the pins 13- the stator S is placed on the pins and a sleeve 15 is moved towards the stator 'to push the coils through the bore of the stator and into the grooves, Fig. 4 (not shown). |
