1,186,287. Foamed magnesia cements. MEARL CORP. 30 May, 1968 [1 June, 1967], No. 25891/68. Heading C3N. [Also in Division C1] Foamed magnesia cement is prepared by (a) aerating an aqueous solution of 2-20% by weight of a foaming agent, e.g. hydrolysed protein, alkyl sulphate or ethoxylated alkyl sulphate to form a foam containing from 1 to 50 volumes of air per volume of initial solution; (b) mixing a slurry containing by weight 5 to 35 parts magnesia, 5 to 35 parts magnesium chloride or magnesium sulphate, 30 to 90 parts of asbestos, rock wool or glass fibre, and 100- 200 parts of water; and (c) adding 0À5 to 5 parts by volume of the foam to the slurry. The slurry can be pumped, sprayed on to steel members, floors or walls and air-dried to form fireproofing, thermal or acoustic insulations having dry densities of 5 to 30 pounds per cubic foot.
|
