An LCD(Liquid Crystal Display) is provided to reduce an ionic impurity concentration of a liquid crystal layer and improve a voltage holding ratio by absorbing ionic impurities in a non-display area and thus preventing inflow of ionic impurities to the liquid crystal layer. A first display panel(100) is divided into a display area where an image is displayed and a non-display area, and includes a first impurity absorbing electrode(185) formed in the non-display area. A second display panel(200) is separated from the first display panel, and includes a second impurity absorbing electrode(251) formed in the non-display area, corresponding to the first impurity absorbing electrode. A liquid crystal layer is interposed between the first display panel and the second display panel. An absolute value of a difference between a voltage applied to the first impurity absorbing electrode and a voltage applied to the second impurity absorbing electrode ranges from 0.1 to 3v. The first display panel includes a pixel electrode array including pixel electrodes(182) arranged in a matrix configuration in the display area, and the first impurity absorbing electrode is electrically separated from the pixel electrode. |
