[Also in Division B5] A pierceable closure for medicine bottles includes a cap 4 and a sealing disc 3, the disc 3 comprising a disc 8, inert to the contents of the bottle, and a covering disc 7 (e.g. of butyl rubber) having a groove 9, into which the rim of the disc 8 is bent, and a flange 7b which co-operates with the chamfer 6 on the bottle neck 1a. A method of manufacturing the sealing disc 3 is also described in which a layer of the inert material is laminated on to the adhesive surface of a raw rubber plate immediately after manufacture, the side of the rubber plate having the inert layer is placed on a circular cutting blade in a press which cuts out a sealing disc blank, and the blank is placed in a vulcanizing mould which forms the sealing disc as shown, the surface of the rubber losing its adhesiveness on contact with air in the mould, Figs. 3, 4 and 5 (not shown).
