A burglarproof method of a communication terminal using an instant messaging service and a security system using the same are provided to implement a simple and effective burglarproof and security system, without using a special implemental device, such as a cable lock device, by providing a burglarproof function and a data security function for a communication terminal, such as a notebook computer, using a real-time remote status confirmation function an instant messaging service provides. If the user of a communication terminal selects a security mode(ST4), a control part of the communication terminal sets the status flag of a status storage part to "1" and transfers operation mode of the communication terminal to security mode(ST5). Then, the control part monitors a change of the power supplied to the communication terminal from the outside(ST6). If a change in power supply is detected, the control part controls an alarm output part and outputs an alarm message through a speaker or the screen(ST7). At the same time, the control part transmits a status message to a server in order to make the server transmit an SMS message to the user's mobile terminal so as to indicate that an abnormal power state has been detected(ST8).
