An apparatus and a method for outputting external audio data through a mobile terminal are provided to solve a problem of the related art that a mobile terminal having a Bluetooth wireless communication unit can transmit and output only audio data stored therein to a Bluetooth stereo head set. An external audio unit(200) is connected with a mobile terminal(100) and outputs audio data to the mobile terminal(100). When the mobile terminal(100) is connected with the external audio unit(200), it encodes the audio data outputted from the external audio unit and transmits it to an audio data output unit(300) which performs wireless communication with the mobile terminal(100). The audio data output unit(300) performs wireless communication with the mobile terminal(100), decodes the encoded audio data of the external audio unit(200) received from the mobile terminal(100) and outputs it.
