The method involves transferring the positioning information along with identification data of a mobile unit in digital form over a mobile network to a central eCall server as digital data information. The transferred information is prepared from the eCall server to a information image and supplying on a access-protected internet site, which is provided with graphic map material, where a vehicle is determined. The information image is scanned over the internet by the responsible local emergency call handling center after an authentication at the eCall server. An independent claim is also included for a device for the supply of emergency call information about received emergency calls at emergency call handling center.
