A method for checking an error of a hardware diode option is provided to read the hardware diode option, check a checksum of the read hardware diode option, compare the checked hardware diode option with a hardware diode option previously backed up, and check the error. When an information system is initially started(S10), a microcomputer reads a hardware diode option, and compares a checksum of the read hardware diode option with a hardware diode option baked up and stored(S11,S13,S14). The microcomputer determines whether to initialize the hardware diode option backed up and stored according to the compared result(S12). If a power-off function for stopping a system is performed in a state when normal operation is performed, the microcomputer stores a current hardware diode option and stops the system(S15-S18).
