PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To enable real time observation of tidal wave due to a distant earthquake, accurately and high precisely. SOLUTION: A retaining rod 11 wherein a fixed rod 11a is connected with a tilting rod 11b by using a universal joint 13a is disposed upright on the base of the sea about 1000 m in depth. A floating body 12 is linked with the upper end of the tilting rod 11b via a universal joint 13b in such a manner that floating and swinging are possible. A mercury inclination switch 15 which closes by the tilting of the tilting rod, and a transmitter 16 which transmits a detection signal of the switch 15 by using a ultrasonic wave are installed on the tilting rod 11b. The transmitter 16 is connected with a power source through the switch 15. A buoy 30 is made to float on the surface of the sea. A receiver 31 receiving the ultrasonic wave of the transmitter 15, and a radio wave telemeter 32 transmitting a radio wave informing generation of tidal wave when the receiver 31 receives the ultrasonic wave for a time longer than a specified time are installed on the buoy 30. |
