The invention relates to data processing hardware for generating holograms, in particular for image display applications. The invention provides for concurrent hologram data generation and hologram data quantization. The particular form of quantization described is error diffusion binarization. When generating the hologram data, data is generated for a plurality of sub-frames. Once the hologram data for a sub-frame has been generated it is then quantized. As the data for a first sub-frame is quantized, hologram data for a subsequent sub-frame is concurrently generated. |
