A chair 10 comprises a support 14 mounted on a body 12 and moveable relative to the body for adjusting a configuration of the chair. A mechanism 50 for moving the support relative to the chair includes a rotatable drive shaft 56, a handle 60 for rotating the drive shaft, and a locking arrangement (70, Fig. 5) which is moveable between a first configuration in which movement of the support is prevented, and a second configuration in which movement of the support is permitted. The locking arrangement may comprise a profile (72, Fig. 4) provided on the handle and a profile (74, Fig. 6B) provided on the moving mechanism, the profiles being engageable to prevent relative rotation between the handle and mechanism. The moving mechanism may comprise a rack and pinion arrangement (52, 54, Fig. 4). Also disclosed are a seat with a support comprising two rigid parts (24, 25, Fig. 3B) with a resilient bending region (26, Fig. 3B) in between, and a seat comprising a fabric cover (90, Fig. 7B) to be clamped onto a support. |
