Disclosed is a patient rescue bag particularly designed for extreme wet weather use. A substantially rectangular upper portion (14) is sized wider than a substantially rectangular lower portion (12) such that longitudinal edges (66, 68) of the upper portion (14) are folded downwardly and inwardly so that an inner layer (32) of the upper portion (14 ) is releasably attached to an outer layer (36) of the lower portion (12). In this manner, t he exposed edges of the connection between upper (14) and lower (12) portions are not subject to accumulated rain or snow seeping into the patient chamber (24) or being forced in by helicopter downdraft.
