STEAM GENERATOR AND WASHING MACHINE USING THE SAME

A steam generator and a washing machine using the same are provided to easily install the steam generator by making the horizontal length of a water chamber smaller than the length thereof. A steam generator(100) includes a water chamber(W), a steam chamber(S), a water supply line, and a steam supply line. The water chamber substantially accommodates water. A heater(200) for heating the water is installed in the water chamber. The steam generated by heating the water is substantially accommodated in the steam chamber. The water supply line supplies water to the water chamber. The steam discharge line discharges the steam of the steam chamber. A backward flow preventing member for preventing backward flow of the water and the steam is provided at least one of the water supply line and the steam discharge line.
