A liquid ejection apparatus is provided to prevent an inside of the apparatus from being dirty due to waste liquid discharged from a nozzle opening of a liquid ejection head. A liquid ejection apparatus(10) includes a body case(11) in a shape of a box, a platen(12), a guide axis(15), a recording head(21), a plurality of ink cartridges(23), a home position(HP), and a maintenance unit(24). The platen is temporarily installed on a bottom inside of the body case to support a paper(P) as a target. The platen expresses the paper according to a sub scanning direction perpendicularly to a main scanning direction based on the driving force of a paper transferring motor(14) of a paper transferring unit(13). The guide axis is temporarily installed on a top of the platen inside of the body case to movably support a carriage(16) by penetrating the carriage. The recording head is installed on a bottom of the carriage as a liquid ejection head. The ink cartridges is installed on a top of the carriage. The home position is a place for positioning the carriage in case when a nozzle forming surface of the recording head is maintained or when the power of a printer is turned off. The maintenance unit is installed on a bottom of the home position to perform all kinds of the maintenance for maintaining ink ejection for the paper from the recording head excellent.
