An electric iron having a boiler type steam generator is provided to be able to generate a large quantity of steam having sufficient pressure by using a mechanical valve at a boiler type steam generator. An electric iron having a boiler type steam generator includes an iron body, a boiler type steam generator(2), and an iron bottom plate(3). The boiler type steam generator is installed in the interior of the iron body. The iron bottom plate is installed on the bottom of the iron body. A steam chamber is installed on the iron bottom plate. An ejection hole connects the steam chamber to the bottom surface of the iron bottom plate. One mechanical valve is installed in a boiler body of the boiler type steam generator. An inlet of the mechanical valve is located in the interior of the boiler body. An outlet of the mechanical valve is connected to the steam chamber located on the iron bottom plate through a pipe. A switch connected to a central portion of the mechanical valve and controlling a central portion of the valve is installed on a surface of the iron body.
