PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method for precisely measuring a degree in deterioration of a terephthalic ester resin in a small amount. SOLUTION: The measuring method of the degree in deterioration of the terephthalic ester resin has a process for preparing a resin solution by dissolving a resin material based on the terephthalic ester resin in a dissolving solvent containing hexafluoroisopropanol at the normal temperature, a process for bonding a quantifiable substituent to the terminal carboxy group of terephthalic acid originating from the terephthalic ester resin and a process for quantifying the quantifiable terminal carboxy group of terephthalic acid. That is, as a result of the use of hexafluoroisopropanol capable of dissolving the resin material at the normal temperature and capable of substantially neglecting the deterioration of the resin material during dissolution, the substituent capable of enhancing quantification can be introduced into the terminal carboxy group without deteriorating the terephthalic ester resin. Further, since the deterioration of the terephthalic ester resin is not advanced even in a subsequent quantifying process, a more accurate quantification result can be obtained. Accordingly, all of the respective processes are desirably performed at the normal temperature. COPYRIGHT: (C)2007,JPO&INPIT
