METHOD FOR STARTING OXIDATION AUTOTHERMAL REFORMING APPARATUS

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method for starting an oxidation autothermal reforming apparatus in which a fuel and the like do not coagulate even though a liquid fuel having a lot of carbon numbers and the like are used as reforming raw materials. SOLUTION: The method for starting the oxidation autothermal reforming apparatus 1 which is equipped with a reforming layer 5 where a reforming catalyst is packed at least in a part of it and where a reformed gas whose main component is hydrogen is produced by a reforming reaction so as to make the mixture of a hydrocarbon or an aliphatic alcohol and steam into contact with the reforming catalyst and an oxidation exothermic layer 6 where an oxidation catalyst is packed at least in a part of it and where heat is generated by oxidizing a part of the reformed gas is provided. The reforming layer 5 and the oxidation exothermic layer 6 have a triple pipe structure and at least a part of the reforming catalyst packed in the reforming layer 5 contains metal Ru. After the reforming layer 5 and the oxidation exothermic layer 6 in the oxidation autothermal reforming apparatus 1 are preheated, the oxidation autothermal reforming apparatus 1 is started.
