PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a light source device for an endoscope capable of preventing the deterioration of a filter member. SOLUTION: A fan 42 blow out wind toward a light source 32 as shown by an arrow A when irradiation with illumination light is started by the light source 32. A part of the wind blown out by the fan 42 and heated by the heat generated by the light source 32 is sent to an infrared cut filter 40 through a path P as shown an arrow C. In this case, a throttle 36 is closed and no illumination light enters the infrared cut filter 40. The throttle 36 is opened by a predetermined quantity, the illumination light enters a light guide enter end 12A through the infrared cut filter 40 or others, and the object observation is started when the predetermined time lapsed and the infrared cut filter 40 was sufficiently preheated. As the result, the infrared cut filter 40 is wholly and mildly heated and partial and abrupt heat by the enter of the illumination light is prevented. COPYRIGHT: (C)2007,JPO&INPIT
