PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a fat cell differentiation inhibitor that can be daily taken continuously, is safe and sufficiently suppresses fat accumulation of precursor fat cells.

SOLUTION: The fat cell differentiation inhibitor comprises an embryo of a lotus and/or extracts of yacon. The fat cell differentiation inhibitor suppresses fat accumulation of precursor fat cells. Foods, quasi-drugs and pharmaceuticals containing the embryo of a lotus and/or extracts of yacon exhibit fat cell differentiation-inhibiting actions and are effective for prevention and amelioration of obesity and diabetes.
