The rewinding machine comprises: a path for insertion of tubular cores (A); a winding cradle (1 , 3, 9); a first moving member (1) designed to be in contact with the web material (N) to be wound; a rolling surface (13A) forming, with said first moving member, a channel (11) for passage of the tubular cores; an insertion device (51) to insert the cores in the channel (11). At the inlet of the insertion channel there is a second moving member (63; 63A), opposed to the first moving member (1), the core insertion path passing between said first and said second moving member; the two moving members are arranged at a distance such that a core inserted between them is in contact with the second moving member and with the web material entrained around the first moving member.
