<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a membrane for a polymer electrolyte fuel cell capable of inexpensive and stable power generation over a long time. <P>SOLUTION: This membrane for a polymer electrolyte fuel cell comprises an ion-exchange membrane formed out of a polymer compound having C-H bonds not less than 10% with respect to the number of all chemical bonds and having an acidic group, and is characterized by including one or more kinds selected from a group comprising cerium atoms and manganese atoms. Preferably, the one or more kinds selected from the group comprising cerium atoms and manganese atoms are included as ions.
