PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an imaging apparatus capable of preventing a user from executing vertical position photographing unintendedly in moving picture photographing. SOLUTION: When a posture difference detection sensor 300 judges that a digital camera 100 is at a vertical position during preparing moving picture photographing or moving picture photographing, an image display part 28 is controlled so as to display a warning. On the other hand, when the posture difference detection sensor 300 judges that the digital camera 100 is at a vertical position during preparing still picture photographing or still picture photographing, the image display part 28 is controlled so as not to display the warning.
