PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a disk drive which can be made thinner in whole and decrease the load on its lift mechanism. SOLUTION: This drive has its main body 3, a disk mount 23 to hold the disk 2 inserted into the main body 3, a disk drive mechanism 24 to turn the disk 2, an optical pickup 25 to record or reproduce information signals on the disk 2, a pickup feed mechanism 26 to move the optical pickup 25 radially on the disk 2, and a rotary support 49 provided apart from the disk mount 23 to rotatably support an end. Further, it has a base unit 22 in which the above components are mounted on a base 27 and a base lift 150 to move the base 27 up and down. The pickup feed mechanism 26 has a lead screw 201 and a driver 31 to turn the lead screw 201, and the driver 31 is provided close to the rotary support 49. COPYRIGHT: (C)2007,JPO&INPIT
