PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an optical connector in which air bubbles are not involved into index-matching oil when a wedge is inserted between a base and a cap body for abutting and connecting optical fibers, and with which the optical fibers are surely pinched and held. SOLUTION: The optical connector has a halved structure which makes a rod-shape having a substantially circular or square cross section when united and is provided with: a pair of clamping members 4 composed of the base 2 and the cap body 3; and a slender clamping spring having a U-shaped cross section and capable of housing substantially the whole clamping members 4, wherein a V-shaped aligning groove 9 is formed at the central part in the longitudinal direction of the opposing face 7 of the base 2 facing to the cap body 3 for positioning and aligning so as to abut and connect the optical fibers. In the vicinity of the connecting part of the optical fibers, funnel-shaped grooves 13, whose depth increases from the pressurizing part 12 to the side end parts of the cap body 3, are respectively formed on the opposing face 8 of the cap body 3 facing to the base 2 for serving as puddle parts 10 to keep the refractive index-matching oil 11 interposing the pressurizing part 12 of the cap body 3 corresponding to the aligning groove 9.
