The vehicle has a chassis (1) with a drive system for guided propelling of chassis opposite the base (16). A position measuring system (12) determines the position of the chassis in a coordination system fixed to the base. A controller is provided for level regulation for lifting, holding and lowering of the air cushion carrier and also for automatic operation of chassis opposite to the base along a channel selected by a user. The position of the chassis is controlled by the position measuring system in real time.
