LITHIUM SECONDARY BATTERY EMPLOYED WITH SEPARATOR COATING LAYER CONTAINING SURFACTANT

A lithium secondary battery is provided to improve wettability of electrolytic liquid to an electrode and therefore to increase the capacity, rate property and cycle characteristics, and to remarkably shorten the time in production of the battery. The lithium secondary battery includes a separator to which a lithium transition metal compound-containing positive electrode and a carbon-containing negative electrode are combined, wherein the battery comprises a surfactant in a layer(a coating layer) deposited onto the separator for combing the separator to the electrodes. Particularly, the surfactant is contained in an amount of 0.01 to 20 wt%, based on the total weight of the separator coating layer. The surfactant is preferably a non-ionic surfactant, including a block copolymer having both of a hydrophilic portion and a hydrophobic portion such as PEO-PPO block copolymer.
