<p><P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To vary a compression ratio during motion image photographing in accordance with a user operation. <P>SOLUTION: An imaging apparatus includes a compression unit which compresses a picked-up object image to generate a compressed object image, a shooting mode change unit which changes a shooting mode during which the object image is shot, a compression ratio change unit which changes the compression ratio of the compression unit, and a recording means which records the compressed object image on a recording medium. When the shooting mode change unit changes the shooting mode from a non-super-resolution mode to a super-resolution mode, the compression ratio change unit changes the compression ratio in the compression unit to a lower compression ratio. On the other hand, when the shooting mode is changed from the super-resolution mode to the non-super-resolution mode, the compression ratio change unit changes the compression ratio in the compression unit to a higher compression ratio, so that the user is capable of extracting a high-resolution frame image in any preferable scene from a compression-recorded motion picture during motion picture reproduction. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2007,JPO&INPIT</p> |
