PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To obtain a thin film magnetic head which can achieve corrosion resistance improvement and prevention of electrostatic discharge damage of an element part and raises degree of freedom of return yoke shape design, and its manufacturing method. SOLUTION: A thin film magnetic head equipped with; a reproduction element of a CPP structure; a perpendicular magnetic recording type recording element having a main magnetic pole layer, a return yoke layer and a coil layer; and a resistance element conducted to the return yoke layer and a ground, is includes; a wiring pattern layer formed with non-magnetism conductive material, and at least a part of which exists in the same laminating height position with this return yoke layer so as to conduct at the same laminating height position with the return yoke layer; and a contact section which is formed in lamination in a direction orthogonal to laminating direction of each layer under this wiring pattern layer and connects the wiring pattern layer and the above resistance element.
