PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method for detecting a defect in a cable connecting section capable of detecting the defect at low cost and with high sensitivity. SOLUTION: Oscillatory wave is injected into a component (measured sample 1) made of rubber material of a power cable connecting section by a probe 3, the existence of the defect 2 is determined by detecting reflected oscillatory wave generated at the defect 2 by the oscillatory wave, the time difference from the injection time of the oscillatory wave to the detection time of the reflected oscillatory wave is calculated, and the position of the defect 2 is oriented by multiplying the calculated time difference by audio propagation speed of the measured sample 1.
