PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a derailment prevention device and a braking device for wheels which can surely prevent derailment of the wheels and brake the wheels, by laying derailment prevention guard rails for wheels near rails, installing an eddy-current brake device opposed to the derailment prevention guard rails for wheels, and using the derailment prevention guard rails for wheels as secondary conductors of the eddy-current brake. SOLUTION: In the derailment prevention device for wheels, the derailment prevention guard rails 6, 7 for wheels 2, 3 are laid near the rails 1 at predetermined intervals D<SB>1</SB>. The eddy-current brake device is installed on a vehicle side so as to be opposed to the derailment prevention guard rails 6, 7 for wheels 2, 3.
