PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an autovapor compression type evaporator which keeps the steam evaporated from an aqueous solution compressed by a compressor 11, uses it as a heat source for evaporating the aqueous solution, enables its application to an aqueous solution of a high boiling point rise, and can prevent scaling in the compressor. SOLUTION: The above compressor 11 is installed in a steam duct 8 connecting an evaporation still 1 for evaporating the above aqueous solution and a heat exchanger 4 for indirectly heating the above aqueous solution, and a poststage compressor 12 for further compressing the steam is installed at a downstream location of the above compressor 11. In addition, water inlets 13 and 14 for injecting part of condensate generated in the above heat exchanger to the steam flow are installed at the suction line of the above compressor 11 and at the suction line of the above poststage compressor 12 respectively.
