<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an electronic key system for a vehicle capable of detecting the replacement of a mechanical key. <P>SOLUTION: In this electronic key system 1 for a vehicle, an on-vehicle device 3 mounted on the vehicle authenticates a mobile device 2 carried by the user of the vehicle and unlocks the vehicle.
