<p><P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To obtain an inexpensive and compact transmission by suppressing gear noise in an automatic transmission AT of at least six stages. <P>SOLUTION: The automatic transmission AT comprises first and second planetary gear sets GS1 and GS2, two groups of planetary gear sets GS3 and GS4 connected to an output portion Output, first to third clutches C1 to C3, and first and second brakes B1 and B2.
