A filament comprising a synthetic polymer and characterized by a hexalobal cross-section having three major lobes and three minor lobes, and a major radius (R₁) and a minor radius (R₂). Each lobal cross-section having essentially straight side portions extending outwardly and tangent to a convex tip at each end. The ratio of the major radius (R₁) to the minor radius (R₂) defining an exterior modification ratio (R₁/R₂) of greater than (1).
