The thermal stability of an oxymethylene polymer is improved by reacting with ethylene imine or an N-substituted ethylene imine. Specified imines are polyethyleneimine, 1-6-hexa - methylene - di - (N,N1 - ethylene urea), ethylene urea, 4-41-diphenyl-methane di-(N,N-ethylene urea), phosphoric triethylene imide and the compound of formula <FORM:1041523/C3/1> The imine may be present in amount from 0.01 to 20% based on the polymer, the reaction may take place in solution, e.g. in dimethyl formamide and the polymer may be a copolymer with the usual comonomers, e.g. cyclic ethers and styrene. |
