PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a communication terminal capable of surely detecting the arrival of a call to a mobile phone and making a speech independently of a model of the mobile phone connected to the communication terminal even if an automatic answering service is set. SOLUTION: The communication terminal detects the presence/absence of a tone signal consecutive for a prescribed time in a voice signal reception line among connection lines to the mobile phone, discriminates whether or not a signal received via an outgoing serial signal line from the mobile phone is a tone type signal for denoting a type of the tone signal, and transmits the presence/absence of the tone signal or a caller number request command to the mobile phone when receiving the tone type signal. Since the communication terminal informs of information about the presence of an incoming call when receiving a response from the mobile phone in response to the request, the arrival of the call is surely detected and a speech can be made even if the automatic answering service is set.
